Fred Charpie recently served as a judge in the 2010 Ohio High School Mock Trial Competition.  In this district competition, students from area high schools took on the roles of attorneys and witnesses arguing both sides of a hypothetical case before a panel of judges.  The judges declared one team from St. Ursula Academy and three teams from Sylvania Southview to be winners and advanced them to the regional competition.

When asked about the experience, Fred commented:  "The students were very well prepared and enthusiastic.  The witnesses knew the facts of the case and the attorneys knew the legal procedures used during trial.  The competition between the teams was intense, which often led to difficult decisions as to which team prevailed.  Overall, it was great to see the participation of the students and the excitement generated by the competition."
