MacMillan, Sobanski and Todd was pleased to participate in the Law and Leadership Institute Program by hosting two student interns this summer. The program lets students entering the ninth grade learn more about the legal profession at area law schools and law firms. The regimen at the law school includes daily speakers, field trips, study of law, weekly exams, and at the end a mock trial. The program is sponsored by the Ohio State Bar Association, the Toledo Bar Association, and the University of Toledo School of Law.
The MST attorneys who participated in the internship program were Rich MacMillan, Ted Gillespie, Doug Pavelko, Catherine Martineau, Gregg Emch, Bob Leonardi, Allen Inks, Scott Blake, Fred Charpie, Jim Duggan, Jonathan Sandys and Brent Bondy. The program included an overview of intellectual property law and patent protection, creation/documentation of a new invention, patent searching, patent application drafting, office actions, and trademark protection, searching and infringement. The attorneys also took the students on a walking tour of downtown legal locations. All those involved enjoyed the internship experience.
